Canada’s Men’s National Volleyball Team On the Rise

Canada’s National Team (m) has improved their game dramatically over the past two years and their future looks promising. This article will give you a closer look at this team and their players, coaches, record and a rising star by the name of Sharone Vernon-Evans.
Players
The Canadian National team has 14 players: Tyler Sanders, John Gordon Perrin, Steve Marshall, Nicholas Hoag, Stephen Timothy Mara, Jason Derocco, Sharone Vernon-Evans, Daniel Cornelius Jansen Vandoorn, Lucas Van Berkel, Ryley Brendan Barnes, Graham Vigrass, Blair Cameron Bann, Arthur Szwarc, and Brett James Walsh.
Coaches
The head coach of the Canadian Volleyball team is Stéphane Antiga, the two assistant coaches are Daniel Lewis and Georges Laplante.
Record
The Canadian National Volleyball team are the sixth best in the world. Their biggest win was when they won bronze at the 2016 World Championship.
In the 2016 Rio Olympics they enjoyed their best Olympic performance ever with a 5th place finish ( tied with Argentina, Iran, and Poland )
The team’s NORECA ranking is 2nd, and their world ranking is 6th
Sharone Vernon-Evans
Sharone Vernon Evans is a rookie on the team. He was born in Scarborough, Ontario in 1998. Vernon-Evan learned the game playing for the Pakmen Volleyball Club. Vernon-Evans begins his post high school volleyball career with team Canada FTC (Full Time Training Centre) in Gatineau, Quebec. Vernon-Evans was asked to join the senior National team in the summer of 2016, where he helped his team capture bronze in the 2016 men’s junior NORCECA volleyball championship and the 2017 junior men’s Pan American Volleyball Cup etc. We have asked Vernon-Evans some questions.
What inspired you to play volleyball?
Vernon-Evans. “My sisters inspired me to play volleyball! When I was starting up they helped me fine tune my skills in the summer so I could be good enough to try out for pakmen.”
Do you do anything to upgrade your vertical?
Vernon-Evans: “ I do weight training to help my vertical, I train the proper muscle groups that will help to provide the power and do prevention work to stabilize my tendons and avoid injury”.
